Cortisol ELISA Kit

The morning peak always appears during the first 2 hours after the regular wake-up time. During the day the Cortisol concentration decreases and in the evening we can see very low values. This test is especially suited for measuring very low concentration values. If you want to exclude an Addison syndrome please collect saliva during the morning peak. In case of a suspected Cushing's syndrome we are recommending to always use late evening samples as recommended by Nieman et al in JCEM 2008 Vol.93, No.5, pages 1526-1540. In case of stress testing we are recommending to collect saliva samples during the first 2 hours of a day and another set of samples in the late evening. Then the lab will measure the morning mixture and the evening mixture giving 2 mean results. In order to avoid arbitrary results we highly are recommending to always take 5 samples during a 2 hour period and measure the average value of the mixture. Usually the salivary concentration of Cortison is about twice the concentration of Cortisol. This is similar to serum/plasma and urine as well.
